Lawyers hired by former President Donald Trump found at least two documents marked as classified while searching a storage facility in West Palm Beach, Fla. late last month, and handed over the materials to the FBI, according to multiple reports.
The team that made the discovery was brought in by the 76-year-old Trump’s representatives to ensure they had fully complied with a May grand jury subpoena ordering the handover of all materials with classified markings at the former president’s properties, the reported Wednesday.
The storage unit where the documents were found had been used to hold items from an office in Northern Virginia where Trump staffers kept materials after he left the White House in January 2021.
The report said Trump staffers and a federal agency shipped several pallets of boxes and assorted items weighing about 3,000 pounds from Northern Virginia to the unit in Florida in September 2021.
