Before and after satellite images show earthquake destruction in Turkish towns as death toll passes 20,000

Collapsed buildings, emergency vehicles and tent shelters can be seen in new satellite imagery of earthquake-hit towns in Turkey, revealing the damage from Monday’s devastating earthquake.
Collapsed buildings, emergency vehicles and tent shelters can be seen in new satellite imagery of earthquake-hit towns in Turkey, revealing the damage from Monday’s devastating earthquake.

The images, captured by Maxar Technologies, show the towns of Antakya, Kirikhan, Kahramanmaras, Islahiye and Nurdagi.

A major grain silo complex was damaged by the earthquake outside of Kirikhan.

The grain once contained by the silos is seen scattered around them, with the debris on top.

In northeastern Antakya, a significant portion of a major hospital has collapsed.

Only a portion of the hospital complex remains standing.

Also in Antakya, at least 30 residential buildings in a complex of 57 high rises have collapsed.

The buildings, which are six stories tall, were located on the city’s northern side.
