NC not expected to see influx of migrants with Title 42 ending

Towns near the U.S.-Mexico border are preparing for what could be a record number of border crossers, but it’s doubtful North Carolina will see a big change.
Starting at midnight, the U.S. is enacting new restrictions at the U.S.-Mexico border to stop migrants from crossing illegally and encourage them instead to apply for asylum online through a new process.
The restrictions are known as Title 42 because the authority comes from Title 42 of a 1944 public health law that allows curbs on migration in the name of protecting public health.
While towns near the border are preparing for what could be a record number of border crossers, it’s doubtful North Carolina will see a big change. The state is not expected to see an influx of asylum seekers.
