Here’s a look at the new features coming with iOS 17
It’s June and as those who follow personal tech keenly would know, this is the time of the year when Apple’s annual WWDC (dubbed “dub dub” in Applespeak) is held. The dev conference is the stage where the Cupertino giant reveals the latest versions of its various software platforms, among other goodies, and this time, the spotlight was on Vision Pro, the innovative AR headset that promises to be the harbinger of what the brand calls spatial computing. iOS 16 brought the ability to customise the Lock Screen on the iPhone and Apple is taking the same concept forward by extending it to the Phone app. Personalised Contact Posters let you create custom display pics for yourself, letting you define how you appear to others when communicating with them. The customisation options look quite similar to the ones displayed when you customise the lock screen, and you can use existing photos, Memojis etc to create the poster, along with different fonts and colours to get the look you want. As per Apple, Contact Posters will also be available to third-party calling apps, though it’s not clear at this point whether this would work with WhatsApp calls too.
FaceTime is the recipient of some new features as well, adding reactions such as hearts, balloons, laser beams etc, similar to the effects available in iMessage. And iOS 17 will also let you use Apple TV to initiate FaceTime calls on the television or hand over from your iPhone to get a big screen experience.Messages
