Sony Updates PS5 System Software to Support 8TB SSDs, Dolby Atmos

Sony is testing both features in a beta release of the PS5 system software before rolling it out globally later this year.
Sony released a new beta version of the PS5 system software, and with it added support for 8TB SSDs and Dolby Atmos-enabled audio devices.
It’s unlikely to be a problem for most PS5 owners, but currently Sony’s console only supports M.2 SSDs up to 4TB in size. The beta system software expands that to support up to 8TB SSDs, which are available, but you’ll be spending upwards of $800 to purchase one.
The support for larger drives is welcome and forward-thinking from Sony, especially when you consider Microsoft continues to limit Xbox Series X owners to just 2TB expansion cards.
