Microsoft’s next budget-friendly laptop is expected at its September event, but there might be a price rise and no major updates
The Surface Laptop Go is the cheapest laptop Microsoft makes, but it offers all the fundamentals of a great portable computer.
That was particularly true on 2022’s Laptop Go 2, which delivered good performance, decent battery life and one of the best keyboards around, all within a thin and light design. With a starting price of $599.99/£529, it can just about be considered a budget laptop.
A third generation is thought to be just around the corner, but don’t get your hopes up for any wholesale changes. Here’s everything you need to know about its potential release date, price and key specs.When will the Surface Laptop Go 3 be released?
Microsoft has announced that it’ll be holding a “special event” on 21 September 2023 in New York City. Surface hasn’t been explicitly mentioned in the invites, but this is usually when the company’s new computers launch.
Sources close to Windows Central‘s Zac Bowden suggests the Surface Laptop Go 3 will be among the announcements, alongside the Surface Laptop Studio 2 and Surface Go 4.
According to Roland Quandt at WinFuture, it should be “available from the beginning of October”. The same article suggests 3 October for the Laptop Studio, and it’s likely to be at the same time.
