Officials could not say why warning signs did not go off in Montgomery County before a deadly tornado struck the area.
Tornado warning sirens reportedly failed to go off in some parts of Tennessee that were hit by deadly tornadoes over the weekend, prompting anger on social media.
Six people were killed after severe storms and tornadoes ripped through the state, damaging buildings and knocking out power for tens of thousands of households.
Among the dead were two adults and a child who were killed after a tornado hit their home in Madison, a suburb of Nashville. They were later identified as Joseph Dalton, 37, Floridema Gabriel Perez, 31, and Perez’s son, 2-year-old Anthony Elmer Mendez. Three people, including another child identified as 10-year-old Arlan Burnham, were killed after a tornado traveled through Clarksville in Montgomery County on Saturday.
