How does ‚Aquaman 2‘ and the DCEU end and what’s next for Jason Momoa?

After 10 years, 16 movies and some disappointing reviews and box office performances of late, the DC Extended Universe has officially come to an end with “Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom.”
Jason Momoa stars as Aquaman for the seventh time in his career, after two solo movies, a “Justice League” team-up and a handful of cameos. His first standalone movie, 2018’s “Aquaman,” defied expectations and ended up making $1.15 billion at the worldwide box office, the highest-grossing DC movie ever.
But this is likely Momoa’s final time suiting up as Aquaman. New DC Studios CEOs James Gunn and Peter Safran are rebooting the DC universe with 2025’s “Superman: Legacy,” with plans to recast most of the major roles. There isn’t an “Aquaman” movie on the DC slate they’ve revealed so far, meaning “Lost Kingdom” is Momoa’s farewell for now.
If Gunn and Safran end up keeping any elements of the current DCEU, “Lost Kingdom” may have planted some seeds for the future. The first major development in the sequel is that Aquaman and his Atlantis queen Mera (Amber Heard) have a baby, Arthur Jr.
