An air purifier built for automation
We’ve reviewed Matter-enabled smart plugs and lights, but the $199.99 Welov Matter P200 Pro is the first air purifier we have tested that is certified for the smart home interoperability standard. You can use the Matter P200 Pro with the Alexa, Google, and Siri voice assistants, with additional integration options to come as third-party device makers adopt Matter 1.2. The Matter P200 Pro does a fine job of scrubbing the air of impurities and offers three types of replacement filter options, but it can get very loud and it only offers air quality readings for PM2.5 levels. You’ll get more detailed air quality insights and an oscillating fan with the pricey Dyson Purifier Cool TP07, which remains an Editors’ Choice winner, but if you’re looking for a much more affordable connected air purifier, the Welov Matter P200 Pro is a solid pick.Basic Looking, But Well Connected
Recommended for rooms up to 450 square feet, the Welov Matter P200 Pro has a gray and black finish, measures 21 by 12 by 11.8 inches (HWD), and weighs 12.1 pounds. The front of the enclosure has an air inlet and there’s another one around back, just below the air quality sensor. There’s a thin LED strip surrounding the base that serves as night-light, and the bottom holds a filter cover that twists off to reveal a removable three-stage HEPA filter rated to last between three and six months depending on usage.
The three-stage filter contains a pre-filter layer that captures large particles such as dust and pet hair, a carbon-activated layer for odor control, and an H13 True HEPA layer that removes up to 99.97% of airborne contaminants such as pollen, mold, bacteria, and pet dander. In addition to the standard white filter, Welov offers a yellow Pet filter for homes with lots of pet hair and dander, and a purple Toxin Absorber filter for removing high levels of formaldehyde, wildfire smoke, and other volatile organic compounds (VOCs). Standard replacement filters go for $50.99 each (currently discounted to $35.99), while the Pet and Toxin Absorber filters cost $59.99 (currently discounted to $39.99).
For more thorough cleaning, the Rabbit Air A3 uses six stages of filtration, including negative ion technology designed to attach to harmful particles, making them heavier and therefore easier to trap using the various filters. The Air A3 also offers several specialty filter options, including Germ Defense, Odor Remover, Toxin Absorber, and Pet Allergy.
The top of the P200 Pro holds a backlit control panel with a small display that displays the current PM2.5 (particulate matter smaller than 2.5 microns in size) level detected in the air. That’s the only indoor air quality reading you get, whereas the Dyson Purifier Cool TP07 provides readings for NO2, PM2.5, PM10, and VOCs. A thin light bar along the top edge changes colors depending on air quality conditions: green means the air quality is good (0-50 ug/m3), orange means it is moderate (50-100 ug/m3), and red means the air quality is bad (>100 ug/m3).
