Katy Perry reflects on the backlash she received on 'American Idol' ahead of her emotional exit: "Whatever, you can’t win 'em all"

Katy Perry reflected on the backlash she received on ‘American Idol’ after she left the show after seven seasons.
Katy Perry‘s run on American Idol came to an end this weekend as the pop star bid farewell to the ABC reality series.
This week’s episode proved to be very emotional for Perry, who could be seen crying throughout the evening’s performances, from the moment she saw Ryan Seacrest when she first walked out onto the American Idol stage to when the credits rolled and she gave her longtime co-judges, Luke Bryan and Lionel Richie, an emotional hug.
The singer reflected on her run on the show in an after-show chat with Entertainment Tonight, where she revealed who she hopes will replace her as a judge and spoke a bit about the troubles she faced during her seven seasons on the show.
“I hope it’s someone fearless. I hope it’s someone that doesn’t mince their words, maybe someone a little polarizing just like myself,” she said. Perry has faced heavy criticism from viewers who took issue with how she treated the contestants on the show.
“There’s a lot of people that’s like, ‘She’s awful! She should go!’ And there’s a lot of people that are like, ‘She speaks her mind! She’s authentic!’ Whatever, you can’t win ’em all,” she continued.
