Former President Donald Trump has asked the court to lift the gag order banning him from publicly commenting on the jurors and witnesses in his New York City hush money case.
In a letter to New York State Supreme Court Justice Juan Merchan dated June 3 and made public Tuesday, Trump’s defense attorneys argue that the « stated bases for the gag order no long exist » now that a verdict has been reached. The former president last week was convicted of 34 felony charges of falsifying business records over a payment made to adult-film actress Stormy Daniels during his 2016 presidential campaign.
