Trump entered the arena to applause and The Romantics’ “What I Like About You,” heading to his seat next to his running mate, Sen. JD Vance, R-Ohio; Reps. Marjorie Taylor Greene, R-Ga., Elise Stefanik, R-N.Y., and Tom Emmer, R-Minn., were also seated in Trump’s section.
Trump seemed to be in higher spirits than a day prior, when he made his first major public appearance after being shot Saturday, surprising RNC attendees and looking emotional as he entered the event with a bandage covering the bullet wound to his right ear, which he also sported Tuesday night.
Haley, with Trump in the audience, said he “has my strong endorsement, period,” after explaining that Trump asked her to speak at the convention and focus on “unity,” which Trump said will be the theme of his own speech Thursday.
