Jordan Chiles said she had “no words” on decision to take away her bronze medal and give it to Ana Barbosu.
Team USA gymnast Jordan Chiles responded to the ongoing controversy over her women’s floor routine results during the 2024 Paris Olympics.
The International Olympic Committee (IOC) has ordered Chiles to return her bronze medal after the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) found an appeal that gave her the third-place spot was filed four seconds late.
The International Federation of Gymnastics (FIG) determined Romanian gymnast Ana Barbosu earned the third-place spot.
Chiles said the news that she had been stripped of the medal was “devastating.”
“I have no words”, Chiles said on Thursday on social media. “This decision feels unjust and comes as a significant blow, not just to me, but to everyone who has championed my journey.”
Chiles and Barbosu both competed in the finals for the event in the Paris Olympics on August 5. Barbosu initially placed third in the competition.
