The singer has defended comments about not publicly endorsing a presidential candidate for the U.S. election.
Fans of singer Chappell Roan are “divided” over her comments about the presidential election in November, according to the co-administrator of one of her biggest fan Instagram accounts.
The “Pink Pony Club” singer, who has enjoyed a meteoric rise to fame this year, went viral after she spoke at the presidential race in an interview in The Guardian published on Friday, September 20.
Roan explained why she had not endorsed any candidate yet, and specifically not Democratic nominee, Kamala Harris, saying: “there’s problems on both sides. .I encourage people to use your critical thinking skills, use your vote.”
But some people took her lack of an active endorsement of Harris as an indirect way of supporting Republican nominee, Donald Trump. So, Roan took to TikTok to clear the air on Tuesday.
She said she absolutely did not endorse Trump, but believed eligible voters had a responsibility to hold their representatives accountable.
