Kansas City Chiefs star quarterback Patrick Mahomes passed this week on endorsing a candidate in the 2024 presidential election.
On Wednesday, Mahomes spoke to reporters ahead of the team’s practice for an upcoming game on Sunday against the Cincinnati Bengals and was asked about the upcoming presidential election between former President Donald Trump and Vice President Kamala Harris.
“I don’t want my place and my platform to be used to endorse a candidate or do whatever, either way”, the three-time Super Bowl winning quarterback said. “I think my place is to inform people to get registered to vote. It’s to inform people to do their own research and then make the best decision for them and their family.”
The comments from Mahomes came shortly after Taylor Swift endorsed Harris for president. Swift is currently dating Mahomes’ teammate, Travis Kelce, who plays tight-end for the Chiefs.
