Vet's 'Critical' Warning After Dog Owner Uses Charcoal To Treat Rat Poison

“He’s not even my dog and I’m stressed,” one user said in the comments.
A dog owner from Florida went viral on TikTok after revealing that she used charcoal to treat her pup when he ingested rat poison. Newsweek has spoken to a veterinarian to find out exactly what to do if it happens to your dog.
In a viral video shared earlier in March under the username @camrynogle, the golden retriever can be seen licking liquid charcoal from the poster’s hands and syringe, after accidentally ingesting rat poison, and acting like he’s enjoying it.
“When your dog eats everything including rat poison and then he even likes the charcoal to treat the rat poison”, she writes in the clip.
She also reassures her concerned followers: “Don’t worry this was 6 months ago and he is thriving.” Answering a comment in a different post @camrynogle said the charcoal paste was given to her by her veterinarian.
Dr. Nita Vasudevan, veterinarian at Embrace Pet Insurance told Newsweek that rat poison can be fatal, so if your animal comes into contact with it, you should call your veterinarian or an emergency clinic immediately.
