Former Sen. Bob Menendez, of New Jersey, was convicted last year on federal bribery charges.
Former Sen. Bob Menendez is set to report to prison Tuesday to begin serving an 11-year sentence following his conviction on federal bribery charges.
In court papers last month, Menendez’s lawyers said he is expected to be housed at a facility in Minersville, Pennsylvania, that has both a medium and minimum-security prison. Given the white-collar nature of his crimes, he will likely end up in the latter.
The Federal Correctional Institution, Schuylkill, is about three hours away from his Englewood Cliffs, New Jersey home and it houses approximately 1,200 inmates.
Menendez was supposed to report to prison on June 6, but sources told CBS News New York he wanted to attend his step-daughter’s wedding in Massachusetts.
