Same old start, same old end.
Don’t wanna grow up? Then get out and revisit your childhood with Freakier Friday, opening in theaters this weekend.
The sequel to the 2003 Disney movie Freaky Friday (which was, itself, a remake of the 1976 movie, which was based on the 1972 novel), this sequel reunites Lindsay Lohan and Jamie Lee Curtis, everyone’s favorite body-swapped mother-and-daughter duo. Directed by Nisha Ganatra, with a screenplay written by Jordan Weiss, Freakier Friday once again finds Anna (Lohan) and her mom Tess (Curtis) swapping bodies. But this time, it’s not with each other—it’s with Anna’s daughter Harper (Julia Butters) and her soon-to-be stepdaughter, (Sophia Hammons). Harper and Lily don’t get along, and see this body swap as the perfect opportunity to break up their parents.
Freaky Friday cast members Mark Harmon, Chad Michael Murray, Rosalind Chao, Ryan Malgarini, Christina Vidal Mitchell, Haley Hudson, Stephen Tobolowsky, and Lucille Soong all reprise their role from the first film, while The Good Place star Many Jancinto joins the cast as Lohan’s on-screen fiancé.
For millennials, Freakier Friday will be a delightful trip down memory lane. Read on to find out where to watch the new Freaky Friday movie, and when we expect to be able to watch Freakier Friday on streaming.
