Months before his August arrest, Lil Nas X shared details about his struggles and recent focus on creativity and joy in music
Lil Nas X reflected on a “pretty difficult” past few years in a video shared via social media in February, six months before his arrest for allegedly assaulting a police officer.
“These last few years were pretty difficult for me,” he said in the video. “I’m just now arriving to this place of feeling confidence in myself and what I’m doing, and I’m trying to make sure I put intention towards my music and my vision and the creativity of it all.”
“Most of all, I really want to make sure I have fun this time around,” Lil Nas X, 26, continued, saying he didn’t have as much fun during the rollout of his 2021 album, Montero.
“I was more focused on making sure the songs did well than making sure I was having fun doing s***,” he explained.
