House Judiciary Committee demands ex-special counsel Jack Smith explain ‘partisan and politically motivated’ Trump probes

House Judiciary Committee Chairman Jim Jordan demanded former special counsel Jack Smith sit for testimony and provide critical documents to shed light on the 2022 raid on Mar-a-Lago and his handling of the indictments against President Trump.
House Judiciary Committee Chairman Jim Jordan on Tuesday demanded former special counsel Jack Smith provide testimony and documents about his “partisan and politically motivated prosecutions” against President Trump.
Jordan blasted Smith’s handling of two federal indictments of the 45th and 47th president, and argued his testimony is necessary to understand the “full extent to which the Biden-Harris Justice Department weaponized federal law enforcement.”
“Your team sought to silence President Trump by restricting his public statements about the case, conducted an unnecessary and abusive raid of his residence, attempted to improperly pressure defense counsel with the promise of political patronage, and manipulated key evidence in the investigation,” the Ohio Republican wrote in a scathing letter to Smith.
“These actions undermined the integrity of the criminal justice system and violated the core responsibility of federal prosecutors to do justice.
