More than 750 firefighters were on the scene of a deadly fire at high-rise development as flames engulfed buildings clad with bamboo scaffolding.
Nov. 26 At least 13 people in Hong Kong were killed and 15 were injured after fire engulfed seven high-rise buildings in a housing development in the New Territories on Wednesday. More than 750 firefighters were battling the flames.
One of the dead was a 37-year-old firefighter, part of a company from nearby Sha Tin who were among the first on the scene after the blaze erupted just before 3 p.m. local time at Wang Fuk Court in Tai Po, 12 miles north of downtown Hong Kong.
Authorities told a news conference that 15 people had been injured. Earlier reports said of the nine people taken to two area hospitals, four were dead, three were in a critical condition, one was in a serious condition and one was „stable.
