Peter Greene, an actor best known for playing mafia officer Dorian Tyrell in the 1994 film The Mask, has died. He was 60.
Greene was found dead yesterday (December 12) inside his Lower East Side apartment by his longtime manager, Gregg Edwards. A cause of death has not yet been shared, but police have told The New York Post that no foul play was suspected.
Born in Montclair, New Jersey, on October 8, 1965, as one of three siblings. Greene ran away from home at age 15 and spent several years homeless on the streets of New York City before eventually changing course by pursuing an acting career in his mid-20s.
After a breakout role leading the 1992 crime drama film Laws of Gravity as tough Brooklyn man Jimmy, Greene began making a name for himself as a dynamic character actor who thrived in complex antagonist and intense villain roles.
