Today marks the entry of two new Xiaomi products – Redmi 6 Pro and Mi Pad 4 to the Chinese market. The Redmi 6 Pro is destined to disrupt the crowded and intensely competitive budget smartphones segment, whereas the Mi Pad 4 is a new entrant to the already diminishing tablet sector. The Mi Pad 4, going with the tradition, is a direct successor to the last year’s Mi Pad 3. As it’s a characteristics of all most all Xiaomi products – the Mi Pad 4 packs decent hardware specifications at a reasonable price. As an icing on the cake, this time Xiaomi has opted Snapdragon 660 Mobile Platform for its latest tablet, unlike the previous Mi Pads, which are powered by MediaTek Processors. Let us see what all impressive features are tucked by the Mi Pad 4 potentially to lure the customers.
When it comes to specifications, it’s a good habit to start with the SoC that powers the gadget as remaining specs are largely dependent on the SoC. So, the Mi Pad 4 is powered by a 2.2GHz octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 660 Mobile Platform which has an integrated Adreno 512 GPU. Obviously, the SoC is mid-range and thereby the tablet is more or less budget centric. Well, it will be available in two RAM options – 3GB and 4GB. Also there will be LTE and Wi-Fi only models too. The 3GB RAM version will be coupled with 32GB of primary storage, whereas the 4GB RAM version will come with an upgraded 64GB storage.
The Mi Pad 4 comes with an 8-inch WUXGA LCD display with a 1920×1200 pixel resolution and 16:10 aspect ratio. For photography, it houses a 13MP camera on the rear with f/2.0 aperture with HDR and 1080p video recording support. While on the front, there sits a 5MP shooter with f/2.0 aperture and AI face unlock.
Coming to the software department, the Mi Pad 4 runs the not-so-latest MIUI 9. Nevertheless, a software upgrade to the latest major revamped edition of, MIUI – MIUI10 should be on the card for the tab. Keeping its light on is a The Mi Pad 4 is a 6,000mAh battery. It possess USB Type-C just like its predecessor.
Additionally, the Mi Pad 4 has an all-metal unibody design of 7.9 mm thickness. Unfortunately, the gadget lacks a fingerprint sensor but an advanced AI backed Facial Recognition is up as a biometric authentication method.
The base variant(3/32GB) is worth CNY 1,0999 (around Rs. 11,999) in China. Note that the 3GB RAM option comes with only Wi-Fi connectivity. On the other hand, the 4GB RAM/64GB storage version with Wi-Fi will cost CNY 1,399 (around Rs 14,570) while the version with both 4G LTE and Wi-Fi will be available for CNY 1,499 (around Rs 15,612).
As of now, since the Mi Pad 4 has launched only in China, it will be put for sale in the country starting from June 29 in two colours: black and rose gold. Whether the tab will see an India launch is not written in the stone yet. However, there is possibility – as it’s powered by Qualcomm processor and also sum up the demand for Mi products in Indian market.
