Xiaomi has come out with a MIUI 10 Global Beta ROM for its first POCO-branded smartphone, the F1. In addition to including all the exciting new MIUI 10 features and improvements, the beta update also brings fixes for a few major issues, just as promised by the company recently.
After beginning the MIUI 10 Global Stable rollout for the Redmi Y2 and the Redmi Note 5 Pro in India, Xiaomi has released the MIUI 10 Global Beta 8.9.13 for the POCO F1. Since it is a beta update, users will have to flash the ROM using fastboot, for which you will need to have an unlocked bootloader. If you have unlocked the bootloader on your POCO F1, you can download the latest MIUI 10 Global Beta ROM from here. Do note that the ROM weighs in at 2.5GB in terms of size.

As for the changes, Xiaomi says the new beta ROM includes fixes for a few issues that were reported by POCO F1 recently. These include some app icons not showing in the notification panel, low and distorted headphone output when playing PUBG, and “OK Google” not working. While there is no word yet on when the stable ROM will be released for the POCO F1, we expect the rollout to begin soon as Xiaomi has already released the MIUI 10 Global Stable ROM for a few of its smartphones.
The most affordable Snapdragon 845-powered smartphone on sale in India currently, the POCO F1 comes in three memory configurations. The base configuration with 6GB of RAM and 64GB of internal storage is priced at Rs.20,999, while the 6GB RAM + 128GB storage variant of the handset is priced at Rs.23,999. For consumers who require even more storage, Xiaomi offers a third configuration with a whopping 8GB of RAM and 256GB of internal storage, priced at Rs.28,999. The POCO F1 comes in three colors – Graphite Black, Rosso Red, and Steel Blue. An Armored Edition with 8GB RAM + 256GB storage is also sold in India for Rs.29,999.
Unlike Xiaomi’s budget smartphones like the Mi A2 and Redmi Note 5 Pro, the POCO F1 sports a polycarbonate build that is not as premium as some of its rivals. That said, the polycarbonate body is certainly more durable than the majority of its rivals. The Armored Edition of the handset comes with a Kevlar back, offering even higher durability. Xiaomi has equipped the POCO F1 with a notched 6.18-inch IPS LCD display featuring 1080 x 2246 Full HD+ resolution, an 18.7:9 aspect ratio, and 84% NTSC color gamut. The display comes with a layer of Corning Gorilla Glass on top, although the exact version has not been specified by the manufacturer. Under the hood, POCO F1 runs on an octa-core 10nm Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 chipset clocked at 2.8 GHz with an Adreno 630 GPU and LiquidCool technology.
When it comes to memory, the POCO F1 is available in three configurations – 6GB RAM + 64GB storage, 6GB RAM + 128GB storage, and 8GB RAM + 256GB storage. Further expansion up to 256GB is supported, thanks to Hybrid Dual-SIM slots. In the camera department, POCO F1 sports AI dual rear cameras with a 12MP primary sensor and a 5MP secondary sensor. For selfies, the F1 features a 20MP sensor on the front with AI Portrait Mode, AI Beautify, and IR Face Unlock. In addition to IR Face Unlock the POCO F1 sports a rear-mounted fingerprint sensor as well. Connectivity features offered by the smartphone include Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac dual-band MU-MIMO, Bluetooth 5.0 Low Energy, GPS with A-GPS, GLONASS, BeiDou, Dual 4G VoLTE, and a USB Type-C port. The smartphone is fueled by a large 4000mAh capacity battery with Quick Charge 4 support.
