We’ve got all the details about the Red Dead Redemption 2 Soundtrack, from the composer to all the musicians, and even the first song from the game.
We’re unbearably close to the release of Red Dead Redemption 2, in fact some of you may have the game preloaded on your console already. One of the highlights of the first game was its incredible soundtrack, along with its many fantastic songs. Rockstar is hoping to live up to that high standard with the Red Dead Redemption 2 soundtrack. We’ve got all the details on the new soundtrack, as well as a track from the game for you to listen to right now.
The soundtrack for Red Dead Redemption 2 is composed by Woody Jackson, who was responsible for scoring both Red Dead Redemption and Grand Theft Auto V, so the original score is in safe hands. Additional music and arrangement has been provided by Colin Stetson, David Ferguson, David Ralicke, Gabe Witcher (awesome videogame name there), Luke O’Malley, Mario Batkovic, Matt Sweeney, Rabih Beaini and Senyawa. It also features contributions from over 110 musicians, including frequent Bjork, Kanye West, Frank Ocean and Kelela collaborator Arca, former Watts 103rd Street Rhythm Band drummer James Gadson, “Lee Hazlewood protégé” Duane Eddy, Mars Volta and Queens of the Stone Age drummer Jon Theodore, and Bosnian Raindows’ Deantoni Parks.
All the vocal parts of the soundtrack are produced by Grammy Award-winner Daniel Lanois, who’s worked with Bob Dylan, Neil Young, Willie Nelson, Brian Eno and U2. Speaking of Willie Nelson, he performs a vocal track for the game, along with D’Angelo, Nas, and more that Rockstar hasn’t revealed yet. These songs have been produced exclusively for Red Dead Redemption 2.
The Red Dead Redemption 2 soundtrack is not currently available, not even any of the songs for the game. However, user Se7en-Rus on the GTA-forums managed to extract the Dashboard music for the game from PSN, and put it up for people to hear. You can listen to the full track here. It’s only the smallest taste of the epic soundtrack, but it’s enough to get us excited.
