The upcoming Apple AirPods 2 may have already received Bluetooth SIG Certification. Moreover, they could have several biometric ‘Wellness’ features as well.
The next-gen of Apple AirPods, the premium truly wireless Bluetooth earphones have passed through the mandatory Bluetooth SIG certification. They may have already received the go-ahead from the certifying agency. Moreover, the new refreshed and updated AirPods could embed multiple health monitoring sensors.
Apple had a very busy and impressive event late last month. The company launched some eagerly awaited products that hadn’t been thoroughly updated for quite some time. Besides the latest Apple iPad Pro, the company also unveiled the refreshed MacBook Air with Retina Display, and the powerful new Mac Mini that packs desktop grade processors into a small form factor desktop computing unit.
The company is now actively focusing on premium Apple accessories and is clearly attempting to add much more functionality and features. A listing for the Apple AirPods appeared on the Bluetooth SIG that mentions the device by the model number such as A2031 and A2032. Along with these details, we also can see that the next-generation of AirPods will have Bluetooth 5.0 support. Additionally, other reports about an update trademark filing for the new AirPods indicate the devices could offer much more than audio.
Early last year, Apple won a patent for sports oriented AirPods with biometrics and noise cancellation features. Thereafter in June this year, reports indicated the next-gen AirPods could embed biometric sensors. This week, renewed trademark filings from Hong Kong and Europe indicate Apple is updating the AirPods classifications to specifically include aspects like ‘wellness sensors’ and more. Interestingly, the original trademark about the AirPods issued on August 22,2017, didn’t mention these aspects.
The new trademark filings significantly expand the scope of the AirPods. They mention the new features that these Bluetooth earphones could feature. A specific notation which covers the ‘General wellness instruments’ of the trademark filing mentions the following:
Apple AirPods allowed the iPad and iPhone maker to offer premium and sleek-looking Bluetooth wireless headphones. The new AirPods didn’t enjoy their time on stage. However Apple appears committed to add functionality and improve the purpose of the AirPods to make them even more appealing, perhaps to justify the rather lofty pricing.
According to notable and reliable supply chain analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, Apple Airpods will soon include hands-free Siri access, allowing buyers to easily summon the AI driven virtual assistant. Moreover, the company could add the much needed water resistance that would truly help buyers to wear the devices confidently. If that’s not enough, the Apple could also launch an optional wireless charging case for the AirPods. The case would be compatible with powerful and efficient Apple AirPower charging mat.
The current generation of Apple AirPods is available in India. It sports a retail price of INR 12,900. However, Flipkart has listed the Apple Bluetooth earphones for INR 9,999. The reduced price could be valid only during the ongoing Flipkart Big Diwali Sale which will end tonight.
