Samsung has definitely stolen the show by bringing to its audience something which has never been seen before on any commercial smartphone. The company had announced the Galaxy A9 (2018) smartphone and it features a quad-rear camera setup. It made its global debut on October 11,2018, in Malaysia. The device has been rumoured to launch in India this month but until now, the exact date was unknown. However, courtesy of media invites sent out by Samsung, the Galaxy A9 (2018) smartphone will launch in India on November 20th.
The Samsung Galaxy A9 (2018) is the first-ever smartphone to have a quad-camera setup. This isn’t something very unexpected considering that Huawei launched a phone with a triple-rear camera setup, the Huawei Mate 20 Pro. It seems like 2019 could very well be the year in which smartphone manufacturers make tremendous leaps with regards to smartphone cameras.
The news comes directly from the horse’s mouth and not through any leak. The media invites clearly furnish all the details one would need. While the name of the smartphone hasn’t been mentioned on the invite, whatever is written, points to the Galaxy A9 (2018). “ 4X Fun ” is almost directly referring to the quad-rear camera setup on the Galaxy A9 (2018) smartphone. The media invite is almost in the form of a teaser, revealing the date and time of the launch event. The launch will take place in Gurugram on November 20th at 12 PM IST. However, the company has not released any more information regarding the smartphone.
Registrations for the launch event have been open on the company’s official website for almost a month. As of now, it appears that this event will only be for the launch of the Galaxy A9 (2018). Samsung seems to be using what isn’t a flagship smartphone to spearhead a new revolution of smartphones. The quad-rear cameras will allow users to take wide-angle, telephoto, and portrait photos. The USP of the smartphone is definitely its rear quad cameras. In all probability, a major portion of the launch event will be dedicated to the experience offered by the quad-rear camera setup.
The smartphone sports a fairly large 6.3-inch screen with Super AMOLED technology and Full HD+ resolution. It also features a nearly bezel-less display design and doesn’t have the controversial notch. The device has a metal body and a glass back. At the heart of the smartphone lies a fairly decent and mid-range Snapdragon 660 SoC. Interestingly, Samsung decided to use a Snapdragon chipset for it instead of sticking to its Exynos chipsets.
The device is available in different RAM configurations of either 6GB or 8GB. Both variants are equipped with 128GB of internal storage. Fortunately, it does even support storage expansion of up to 512GB via microSD card. In terms of its camera, the device will feature a quad-rear camera setup of 24MP + 8MP + 10MP + 5MP and a front-facing camera sensor of 24MP. The smartphone is juiced by a 5,000mAh battery, supports fast charging and runs on Android 8.1 Oreo out of the box. The Samsung Galaxy A9 (2018) is expected to launch in India at INR 39,000.
