‘Galaxy’s Edge’ opens next summer at Disneyland
Disney brought in John Williams, the composer of just about every significant film score over the past 45 years, to do an original theme for the Star Wars “Galaxy’s Edge” parks opening next year. Entertainment Weekly has a two-minute cut of the music.
The video at EW also includes an aerial view of Batuu, the new world that will be the setting for Galaxy’s Edge. Batuu is under construction at Disneyland in Anaheim, California, and Disney’s Hollywood Studios in Orlando, Florida.
Entertainment Weekly has more details about what Baatu contains (there’s a village that is a “Casablanca-like nexus between the forces of good, evil and in-between”) and previews of two rides, including the “Smuggler’s Run” attraction that takes place aboard the Millennium Falcon. The other is aboard a First Order ship and brings visitors face to face with Kylo Ren.
Previews of both rides are being shown today at Disney’s Destination D fan gathering in Orlando. There’s also another look at the Star Wars hotel planned for Walt Disney World, which will be a Westworld- esque immersive experience where guests have to wear Star Wars-inspired costumes and gear.
Galaxy’s Edge will first open at Disneyland sometime in the summer of 2019, and then in Florida later in the fall.
