Google has announced that it is shutting down its email app Inbox. Launched in the year 2014, the Inbox app from Google will shut down by March 2019. The company introduced the app as an experimental platform to test new features which will later rolled out to Gmail. Google, however, did not exactly reveal why it is shutting down the Inbox app.
The year also saw the shutdown of once popular Yahoo Messenger. The messenger was finally put to rest on July 17. Launched twenty years ago in 1998, the messenger was the earliest world wide web experience for the 90s kids. It was famous for its chat rooms that allowed people to talk in groups. Yahoo Messenger failed to survive its recent-day competitors like Whatsapp, Facebook, Snapchat and Instagram Direct.
Launched in the year 2009, Google URL shortener has been an important and fun tool. However, Google announced its shutdown sometime back. After shutting down the service, Google also asked users to consider using app-centric Firebase Dynamic Links (FDL) or similar popular services like Bitly and Ow.ly as an alternative.
After almost two-and-a-half years of introducing its own virtual assistant called M, Facebook killed this project earlier this year.
