Weinstein reaches tentative $19M deal with accusers – but critics say it won't be his money

Victims of sexual abuse by convicted movie producer Harvey Weinstein are poised to share $19 million through a compensation fund and get their release from non-disclosure agreements, New York Attorney General Letitia James announced Tuesday.
The agreement, which needs approval in bankruptcy and district courts, would resolve the state’s 2018 lawsuit against The Weinstein Company LLC for creating a hostile work environment and a class action suit by women who were sexually harassed and assaulted by Weinstein.
James said the deal is a larger agreement proposed in the plan for liquidation of the assets of The Weinstein Company and its parent holding company.
The agreement would set up an $18.87 million victims compensation and release his victims from their non-disclosure agreements.
“Harvey Weinstein and The Weinstein Company failed their female employees,” James said in a statement. “After all the harassment, threats, and discrimination, these survivors are finally receiving some justice.
