The Kansas City Chiefs have largely retained the core of last season’s Super Bowl-winning team, but the defending champions will be without at least one of their key figures as they mount their title defense. Running back Damien Williams informed the team of his intent to opt out of the upcoming season, general manager Brett Veach said Wednesday. “As an organization, we certainly understand and respect Damien’s choice, knowing it was made in the best interest of his family,” Veach said in a statement. “He means a lot to our football team as a player and a person, and we’re going to miss having him around this season.
