More than a dozen people were killed by a strong 7.6 earthquake in Papua New Guinea

An earthquake of magnitude 7.6 struck the Eastern New Guinea region in Papua New Guinea on Sunday, near the town of Kainantu, at a depth of 80 km (49.7 miles) according the European Mediterranean Seismological Center. Shaking continued for more than a minute. About 10,000 people live in and around his town of Kainantu. At least 16 people have been killed and entire villageswere buried under landslides.
