At least 597 families, or 2,436 individuals, were affected by heavy rains and strong winds spawned by Typhoon Neneng (international name: Nesat) in Ilocos Norte province, according to the latest report from the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) on Sunday, Oct. 16.
These families belong to nine villages in four towns in the province, the agency added.
In the capital city of Laoag, some 35 families, or 121 individuals, were evacuated from their homes as Neneng battered the city, according to Mayor Michael Marcos Keon.
