Isabel Clancy’s beauty sketch brought back memories of “the best makeup era.”
Let’s reflect on 2016: “Hotline Bling” is blasting on the radio, the streets are full of people playing Pokémon Go, and you can’t step outside without seeing a set of carved-out eyebrows.
For those unfamiliar, or lucky enough to have never tested the now “cheugy” trend, beauty lovers will share their memories of hours spent in front of a mirror trying to perfect the block-brow look that was popular at the time.
Trailblazers of the look may remember a period when not everyone could recognize the art and effort behind a carved brow—or the time spent perfecting the look. On TikTok, Isabel Clancy, under the handle @isabelclanc, shared such a memory in a video that has received more than 3.9 million views since she posted it on April 27.
Now considered a “wild era” for makeup, 2016 saw the power of influencers grow immensely, thanks in part to Kylie Jenner’s “King Kylie” era and the rise in popularity of the likes of James Charles and Jeffree Star.
