Ahead of season three of “The Sex Lives of College Girls,” Reneé Rapp announced she’d be leaving the show. Here’s what happens to her character, Leighton.
“The Sex Lives of College Girls” gives Reneé Rapp’s character, Leighton Murray, an emotional send-off early in season three.
The new season of the series kicks off with the core four characters — Leighton, Kimberly Finkle (Pauline Chalamet), Bela Malhotra (Amrit Kaur), and Whitney Chase (Alyah Chanelle Scott) — returning to Essex College for their sophomore year.
However, Leighton’s life soon takes her in an unexpected direction. By the second episode of the season, she’s decided to transfer to another school and says farewell to the girls.Leighton leaves Essex for MIT
In the first episode, Leighton learns that the math class she was excited to take this semester, on algebraic and differential topology, got canceled because she was the only person who passed the placement exam.
As an alternative, Leighton begins taking a more advanced math class at the nearby University of Vermont. But the bus rides are too long, and Leighton stops attending.
In episode two, Leighton’s Essex professor offers her another suggestion: transfer to MIT, which has the best math department in the country.
