US intelligence chiefs said Thursday that they believe Russia’s top leadership was behind the hacking and leaking of Democratic party documents in the US presidential election.
“We assess that only Russia’s senior-most officials could have authorized the recent election-focused data thefts and disclosures,” three spy chiefs said in a joint statement to a Senate hearing.
Director of National Intelligence James Clapper, National Security Agency chief Michael Rogers and Marcel Lettre, undersecretary of defense for intelligence, were testifying.
