Based on the proposal and a report drawn up Monday by the metropolitan government’s separate task force to examine issues associated with the Toyosu market in Koto Ward and the Tsukiji market in Chuo Ward, Tokyo Governor Yuriko Koike is expected to make a final decision on whether to move Tsukiji’s functions to Toyosu.
The expert panel proposed that floors of basements of key Toyosu market facilities be covered by special sheets and ventilation fans be installed to prevent toxic substances in the soil from polluting the buildings and the air.
