A day after North Korea threatened to “gain revenge” on the U. S. over newly approved sanctions from the United Nations, President Donald Trump touched on the situation.

The UN unanimously approved the sanctions which include a ban on coal and other exports worth over $1 billion, according to the AP. The sanctions were issued following a nuclear missile test last week conducted by North Korea.
In a statement released Monday to the government-run Korean Central New Agency, the North Korean government criticized the sanctions and vowed revenge.
” (The sanctions are a) violent infringement of its sovereignty” that was caused by a “heinous U. S. plot to isolate and stifle” the country.
“We will make the U. S. pay by a thousand-fold for all the heinous crimes it commits against the state and people of this country, ” the statement said.
On Sunday, Trump said he spoke with the leader of South Korea and expressed satisfaction with the sanctions.
