Trombone Shorty appears on 'The Late Show with Stephen Colbert'

The song is from Troy “Trombone Shorty” Andrews’ new album on Blue Note Records, “Parking Lot Symphony.”
Music on “The Late Show with Stephen Colbert” is already quite New Orleans-y, what with Kenner native and NOCCA alum Jon Batiste as bandleader. On Monday night (Aug. 7) , it got even Big Easier, with Trombone Shorty performing “Here Come the Girls, ” written by Allen Toussaint and originally recorded by Ernie K-Doe.
The song is from Troy “Trombone Shorty” Andrews’ new album on Blue Note Records, “Parking Lot Symphony.” The New York Times calls the song “retro horn-heavy soul in a jovial remake.”
Shorty told Billboard magazine previously that he included Toussaint’s song on his new album because “everything in that song fits what we do.”
