Chinese smartphone maker Vivo has now sent out invites for the launch of the Vivo V7 as a toned down version of the Vivo V7+
Chinese smartphone maker Vivo has sent out invites for the launch of the Vivo V7 here in India. The phone is to be a toned down version of their flagship, the Vivo V7+, with similar key features.
The launch invite shows similar slim bezels at the top and bottom, with no bezels on the sides. The Vivo V7 is expected to retain the 24MP selfie camera from its elder sibling. The specifications are tipped to be toned down and come in a smaller footprint with the V7, when compared to the Vivo V7+.
Launched as a toned-down version of Vivo V7+, the V7 features a 5.7-inch Full HD+ display with a resolution of 1440 x 720 pixels – it follows the recent trend of 18:9 aspect ratio displays. The display is protected by a 2.5D curved Corning Gorilla Glass 4.
Hardware is where the Vivo V7 will be different from the V7+. The V7 features an octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 450 processor clocked at 1.8 GHz, coupled with Adreno 506 GPU. The phone comes with 4GB RAM and 32GB internal storage, along with support for microSD cards up to 256GB.
The main selling point of the Vivo V7 is its selfie camera – the phone features a 24MP camera (also seen on Vivo V7+) with an f/2.0 aperture and a front facing LED flash. On the back the V7 features a 16MP camera with Phase Detection Autofocus, f/2.0 aperture and an LED flash.
Other features of the Vivo V7 include dual SIM, 4G VoLTE, dual band Wi-Fi ac, Bluetooth, Hi-Fi audio chip and GPS. The phone features a fingerprint sensor on the back and is powered by a 3,000mAh battery.
Going by the rumours, the phone appears to be Vivo’s answer to the recently launched Xiaomi Redmi Y1. While the Y1 also features a Snapdragon octa-core processor, both phones can compete on grounds of selfie-camera and looks. Also, seeing the display on the Vivo V7+, we can expect an optimized display on the Vivo V7 as well.
