We already know that Xiaomi is prepping up for the launch of its upcoming new smartphone, otherwise known as the Redmi S2. Earlier today, the Chinese smartphone maker also revealed a teaser on Weibo, that all but points towards the launch of the Redmi S2 in China on May 10. The handset already had been certified by TENAA and 3C in its home ground over the course of the past couple of days. Now, the phone has received the FCC certification for the specific model number: M1803E6G. Recently, the device also had been certified as M1803E6E, which had made an appearance on TENAA last week.
Firstly going by the FCC listing once again, the Xiaomi handset with model number M1803E6G was also spotted on Indonesian certification website last month. Going by these details, it’s evident that the certified phone is none other than an alternate variant of the Redmi S2. Furthermore, the FCC listing also claims that the Redmi S2 will run MIUI 9 out of the box, which is expected to be built upon Android 8.1 Oreo. Apart from these details, the certification also reveals that the phone will be sold in 3GB RAM + 32GB storage and 4GB RAM + 64GB storage variants respectively. And that’s all we can determine from the FCC listing for now.
The Redmi S2 is set to feature a 5.99-inch IPS LCD display with HD resolution (1440×720 pixels). The processor powering the phone is unknown for now, but some believe that the handset will pack in an octa-core Snapdragon 625 SoC. In terms of imaging at the rear, the smartphone might come equipped with a primary 12MP sensor and a secondary 8MP sensor. At the front, the device might feature a 16MP camera for selfies. The whole shebang might be powered by a 3000mAh battery. In total, the handset might come in nine colour variants: Black, Gold, Blue, Gray, Pink, Red, Rose Gold, Silver, and White.
A few days back, the handset was also spotted in a hands-on video as well as in the form of high resolution renders, which revealed some key details. Earlier this morning, the Redmi S2 had also made an appearance on the official Mi Czech store suggesting the same rumoured specifications sheet that includes the Snapdragon 625 SoC, 16MP front-facing snapper, and a 3080mAh battery.
