SpaceX successfully launched its first recycled rocket into space

SpaceX blasted its first recycled rocket, called the Falcon 9, into space carrying a broadcasting satellite today. The launch commenced at Florida’s Kennedy Space Center during a clear evening sky.
Sending a huge chunk of metal and other materials carrying a payload into space requires careful calculation, and a lot of money – millions in fact.
It may not come as a surprise to many, as the very idea of something as massive as a rocket being shot miles through the atmosphere and into the black abyss sounds quite ridiculous due to the sheer act of doing so. However, some organizations are trying to figure out a way to cut those costs down.
After more than two years, flight company SpaceX believe they have figured out one way to jump start the change, and on this evening they put action into gear by successfully sending a recycled rocket into space, called the Falcon 9. The recycled rocket launched from Florida’s Kennedy Space Center using a rocket stage that had previously been used and carried a broadcasting satellite into orbit, before landing on of SpaceX’s drone ships in the Atlantic Ocean.

The aerospace industry has been sending away hefty rockets to the grave by disconnecting and plunging pieces of the first stage back to earth, while some stay in a permanent orbit around the Earth.
In order for SpaceX to utilize these fallen parts, there are procedures that must be followed, inspections carried out, refurbishment of parts, and many other tests that need to be done to ensure that a rocket is ready for spaceflight.
The Falcon 9 took SpaceX up to four months to prepare for this evening’s launch. However, the company is looking at trimming some of the fat so that it may launch as many as six pre-flown Falcon 9 rockets this year alone.
Inmarsat, a telecommunications company that owns and operates global satellite networks, and a SpaceX customer, expressed an interest in the Falcon 9’s reusability and functionality. However, how frequently pre-flown rockets like the Falcon 9 can be sent to space remains to be seen. If these rockets can indeed be launched numerous times and the costs were to come down, companies, like Inmarsat who could build a better satellite network, may find SpaceX a far more attractive option moving forward.

UNITED NATIONS (AP) — The United States wants China to prove that it is really seeking to stop North Korea’s nuclear testing with actions — and that’s what President Donald Trump will be pressing China’s President Xi Jinping to do when they meet in Florida next week, U. S. Ambassador Nikki Haley said Thursday.
Haley said the Trump administration has “no patience” for the “cat and mouse situation” where North Korea provocations including banned nuclear and ballistic missile tests are met with U. N. Security Council resolutions that Pyongyang ignores.
She said the U. S. can’t change the way North Korea thinks but “China can. ” And that will be the focus of the president’s April 6-7 meeting with Xi at his Florida resort.
In a wide-ranging interview with four news agencies, Haley also talked about the new U. S. priorities in Syria, American efforts “to create balance” at the U. N. on the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, and her focus on U. N. peacekeeping and human rights when the U. S. takes over the Security Council presidency in April. She also spoke about her hatred for bureaucracy, which she says she’s avoided so far at the U. N.
Haley’s comments on North Korea reflect growing frustration in the Security Council and internationally at the failure of six U. N. sanctions resolutions to stop Pyongyang’s nuclear and missile testing and the expansion of its nuclear program.
Tensions have escalated over North Korean moves to accelerate its weapons development. The North conducted two nuclear tests and 24 ballistic missile tests last year, deepening concern in Washington that it could soon develop a nuclear-tipped missile capable of reaching the U. S. mainland.
“I know China wants to see North Korea stop with the testing,” the U. S. ambassador said.
“Prove it! Prove it! They need to prove with their actions that they want to see that stopped … and proving it can’t just be stopping the coal intake but allowing it to go through other ways,” Haley said.
“Proving it really is showing them through pressure that you are going to cut them off, and that you take this as seriously as the rest of the world does,” Haley said.
China is North Korea’s most important source of diplomatic support and economic assistance and has long urged a resumption of six-nation denuclearization talks on hold since North Korea withdrew from them in 2009.
Beijing says its leverage over Pyongyang is limited. Despite that, China last month suspended imports of North Korean coal for the rest of the year, depriving Kim Jong Un’s regime of a crucial source of foreign currency though Haley’s comments indicate that Beijing is allowing imports in other ways.
Haley said she expects Trump and Xi to “talk very much about the responsibility that we believe China has — the fact that we don’t have the patience to sit here and see it go round and round anymore and the fact that that we want action. ”
She said she expects them to discuss “how that action can come about, and discuss what level of action president Trump thinks it should be. ”
Haley said she has also told Chinese and Russian diplomats at the U. N. that “they are the answer to some solutions and … we want to see action. ”
She warned that if North Korea launches an intercontinental ballistic missile, which could reach the U. S., or conducts another test, “we are not just going to sit down and say, ‘Oh, that they did it again.'”
“This is something this administration is making a priority and this is something that we absolutely expect China and Russia to respond to,” Haley said.
On Syria, she said the Trump administration is changing U. S. priorities, “and our priority is no longer to sit there and focus on getting (Syrian President Bashar) Assad out. ”
“What we are going to focus on is putting the pressure in there so that we can start to make a change in Syria,” she said. “We want to get the Iranian influence out because that is really a problem. We want to see how we’re going to be dealing with Turkey on this, how we’re going to be dealing with the different players on this, and at the end of the day try and work with everyone to bring peace and stability back to the area. “

Szewach Weiss urodził się w 1935 r. w Borysławiu, położonym wówczas na terenie Rzeczypospolitej, obecnie na Ukrainie. Po II wojnie światowej wyjechał z rodziną do Izraela. W latach 2001-2003 był ambasadorem Izraela w Polsce. Wcześniej był m.in. deputowanym i przewodniczącym Knesetu. HONG KONG –   China’s factory activity has ticked up again last month to its highest level in nearly five years, in a fresh sign the world’s No. 2 economy is picking up steam.
The official purchasing managers’ index released Friday climbed to 51.8 in March from 51.6 in the previous month.
The Chinese Federation of Logistics and Purchasing’s index is based on a 100-point scale, with numbers above 50 indicating expansion.
It’s the index’s strongest level since April 2012.
The report, released by the government’s statistics office, found that production and new orders expanded in China’s key manufacturing sector, which is a major part of the broader economy.
Meanwhile, the official non-manufacturing PMI rebounded, rising to 55.1 last month from 54.2, indicating strength in China’s service sector.

SAN DIEGO — U. S. District Judge Gonzalo Curiel is once again reflecting on his second-oldest case — a nearly seven-year-old lawsuit alleging that Donald Trump defrauded students of the now-defunct Trump University before he was president.
The filings fill millions of pages. There were 65 depositions, including three of Trump.
After praising a proposed $25 million settlement for giving an “extraordinary amount” of money back to former customers, Curiel stopped short Thursday of approving the agreement, which would effectively end the president’s legal exposure from the venture that dogged the Republican businessman throughout his campaign.
Curiel said at the end of an hour-long hearing that he would rule at a later time on final approval to settle two class-action lawsuits before him and a civil lawsuit by New York Attorney General Eric Schneiderman.
The only holdup appeared to be a Florida woman’s claim that she should be allowed to opt out of the settlement and sue the president on her own — a move that would likely scuttle the entire agreement.
Attorneys for former customers said that their clients would get at least 90 percent of their money back under the deal, based on the roughly 3,730 claims submitted. The attorneys waived their fees and Schneiderman agreed to forego $1.6 million of his $4 million portion of the settlement, raising individual payments.
Curiel said the high payments weighed in favor of approval and he noted that only two of about 7,000 eligible class-action members objected to the terms. He directed many of his questions to an attorney for Sherri Simpson, a Fort Lauderdale, Florida, woman who said she should have been given more opportunity to opt out.
Attorneys for Trump and those suing him said the firm deadline to opt out was in November 2015 and that Simpson missed her chance. Simpson’s attorney, Gary Friedman, argued that language in a 2015 opt-out notice suggested that former customers would have another opportunity.
Friedman called the language ambiguous and said constitutional rights to due process required more clarity.
“It’s not constitutionally adequate notice,” he told the judge.
Attorneys for the former customers noted that Simpson was the only one to express confusion. They appeared confident after the hearing that Curiel would rule in their favor.
“I don’t want to predict, but he made a number of statements that were strongly in favor of the fairness of the deal,” said Rachel Jensen, an attorney for the plaintiffs.
Trump’s attorney, Daniel Petrocelli, didn’t address reporters as he left the courthouse.
The lawsuits contend that Trump University gave nationwide seminars that were like infomercials, constantly pressuring people to spend more and, in the end, failing to deliver on its promises.
Trump repeatedly assailed Curiel, insinuating that the Indiana-born judge’s Mexican heritage exposed a bias.
When attorneys reached the deal shortly after Trump was elected, Curiel said he hoped it would be part of “a healing process that this country very sorely needs. ” A month later, he granted preliminary approval of the settlement.
His final approval would bring closure to the trio of lawsuits, the first of which was filed in 2010.
Trump vowed never to settle but said after the election that he didn’t have time for a trial, even though he believed he would have prevailed. Under terms of the settlement, he admits no wrongdoing.

Stahlproduzenten des Preis-Dumpings überführt haben, darunter die deutschen
Firmen Salzgitter AG und Dillinger Hütte. Handelsminister Wilbur Ross
drohte mit Konsequenzen. “Eine gesunde
Stahlindustrie ist entscheidend für unsere Wirtschaft und
Produktionsbasis, doch unsere Stahlindustrie steht unter Beschuss
ausländischer Produzenten, die ihre Exporte verschleudern und
subventionieren lassen”, sagte Ross.
Die USA würden die
Handelsgesetze energisch durchsetzen und wenn nötig auch rückwirkend
Zölle eintreiben. Die Regierung geht von Dumping aus, wenn Produkte
unter ihrem “fairen Wert” verkauft werden. Eine gründliche Untersuchung
habe ergeben, dass dies in der Vergangenheit bei Stahlproduzenten aus
Österreich, Frankreich, Belgien, Deutschland, Italien, Japan, Südkorea
und Taiwan der Fall gewesen sei.
Die Ergebnisse der
Untersuchung erlaubten es, Abgaben zwischen 3,62 und 148,02 Prozent des
Importwerts zu verhängen. Insgesamt gehe es im Untersuchungszeitraum
2015 um Einfuhren im Wert von 732 Millionen Dollar, davon entfalle der
größte Anteil, 196,2 Millionen Dollar, auf Importe aus Deutschland.
Salzgitter AG und Dillinger werden “Dumping-Raten” von 5,38 und 22,9
Prozent unterstellt. Das ist der Prozentsatz, um den der Preis nach
Auffassung der US-Regierung unter die Herstellungskosten oder den
Einkaufspreis gedrückt wurde.
Das Handelsministerium will den
Zoll- und Grenzschutz anweisen, auf Basis dieser Zahlen Barsicherheiten
von den Unternehmen einzutreiben. Diese Mittel sollen einbehalten
werden, bis die Bundesbehörde International Trade Commission am 15. Mai
abschließend über den Fall entscheidet. Sollte das Verfahren dann
eingestellt werden, würde das Geld zurückgezahlt. Mit dem Vorgehen
riskieren die USA einen internationalen Handelsstreit.

Der sächsische Innenminister Markus Ulbig (CDU) sieht in der Kennzeichen-Früherkennung einen wichtigen Baustein bei der Bekämpfung der grenzüberschreitenden Kriminalität und vor allem der Verschiebung von Autos ins Ausland. Er hatte de Maizière auch in seiner Eigenschaft als Vorsitzender der Innenministerkonferenz zu dem Termin eingeladen.
Der Bundesinnenminister wiederum bringt eine Technik mit, die bislang bei der Bundespolizei als Pilotprojekt im Einsatz ist: die Bodycam.
