“Rogue One: A Star Wars Story” hit $1 billion at the global box office this weekend, after earning $7 million domestically over the three days.
“Rogue One’s” total domestic gross climbed to $512.2 million. The film opened on Dec. 16 to great reviews — the film now holds a “fresh” Rotten Tomatoes score of 85 percent.
Last year, “Star Wars: The Force Awakens” took only 12 days to hit the $1 billion global box office mark — the fastest film to ever cross the benchmark.
Disney’s “Moana” also hit a major milestone this weekend: The animated film featuring the voices of Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson and Auli’i Cravalho has passed the $500 million worldwide mark.
