SAMSUNG HAS LAUNCHED the Galaxy XCover 4, a rugged Nougat-powered smartphone that’s designed for outdoorsy types and people working in extreme conditions.
Unveiled at the arse-end of Mobile World Congress (MWC), where the firm also unveiled a duo of Android and Windows 10 tablet devices , the Samsung Galaxy XCover 4 is fully water and dust resistant and comes with MIL-STD 810G certification, which means it’s designed to withstand extreme temperatures, mechanical shocks and vibrations and intense solar radiation.
There’s also a built-in „Glove Touch“ mode, for using the handset while, er, wearing gloves.
Aiming at business users, the Galaxy XCover 4 comes with Samsung Knox 2.7 preinstalled, which Samsung claims „provides defence-grade security from the moment the smartphone is turned on“
Elsewhere the smartphone – which features a slimmer chassis than its chubby XCover 3 predecessor – packs a 5in HD TFT display, as opposed to the high-res AMOLED screens found on the firm’s flagship smartphones.
