Motorola said that the Android Wear 2.0 update „will start rolling out in phases“ for the Moto 360 2nd Gen – but there’s no indication of when the update will be available for the Moto 360 Sport.
Google announced the rollout of Android Wear 2.0 in February, promising that it would be made available to a range of devices „in the coming weeks“. The latest version of its OS for wearable devices was already months behind schedule, after Google said in September that its release would be delayed until early 2017.
By mid-April, many devices still hadn’t received the update, but Google insisted that all remaining devices awaiting the upgrade would get it by the end of May, including the Moto 360 2nd Gen. Yesterday, Motorola tweeted that Android Wear 2.0 will roll out „in phases“ to that device, „possibly as early as today“.
It’s not clear if any Moto 360 2nd Gen devices have actually received the update yet, but it seems that the wait is finally coming to an end. That said, Motorola hasn’t provided any indication of when it expects the rollout to be completed, so it could still be days – or even weeks – before all of those devices are upgraded.
The Moto 360 Sport was also on the list of devices that Google said would be upgraded by the end of May. However, it looks like those plans have slipped again – in a further tweet, Motorola confirmed that Android Wear 2.0 is still coming to the Moto 360 Sport, but added: „…we have no timing to share.“
Meanwhile, ASUS announced last week that it had begun its Android Wear 2.0 rollout for the ZenWatch 3, but later said that it was „mistaken“, and that it was aiming to start its rollout later this month.
