Fifty-three college students arrived on campus at San Jose State University on Monday, a big jet-lagged after flying in from Taiwan, China, South Korea, Brazil and Spain. They’re going to spend the next three weeks learning about the Silicon Valley, working on tech projects, and visiting the campuses of Cisco, Google and Facebook. And like waves of talented immigrants who came before them, they’re pondering where their future lies — in the Silicon Valley or in their home countries. It’s more of an open question these days, as infrastructure, venture capital markets, and the availability of higher skilled workers have improved in other countries. And then there’s a matter that could be a setback coming as early as Tuesday. There is speculation that the Trump Administration is about to put the brakes on a new entrepreneur visa program that was initiated by President Obama before he left office. The new program is slated to begin next Monday, July 10.
