Airbnb’s disaster response program has been activated for victims of the Barcelona attack.
Airbnb is offering free places to stay for those affected by Thursday’s tragedy in Barcelona.
The disaster response program is for anyone impacted by the attack and checking in to the area between August 17 and September 7.
The site currently has 78 listings for $0 in the area.
The program only waives the service fees for the listing, but all the rentals available in Barcelona that were part of the program were offering their spaces for free.
The program was launched after Airbnb members helped shelter victims affected by Superstorm Sandy.
A van ran into pedestrians on the crowded Las Ramblas street in Barcelona Thursday, killing 14 people and injuring more than 100 others. A second attack took place in Cambrils, about 70 miles south of Barcelona, later in the day. Five terrorists were shot dead after killing one woman and injuring six other people. Airbnb has not activated the program for Cambrils.
There have been 47 global emergencies and more than 3,000 activated listings since the program’s launch, according to the company’s website.
