Dodgeball fans rejoice: ESPN8 “The Ocho” is finally happening.
ESPN announced Thursday that for one day only, ESPNU will transform into the once-fictional sports network featured in the 2004 comedy classic featuring Ben Stiller, Vince Vaughn and Christine Taylor. The transformation will take place August 8.
“The Ocho” will consist of a full lineup of unconventional sports that would make even Cotton McKnight and Pepper Brooks proud.
That includes airings of the 2016 American Disc Golf Championship, the 2016 WFTDA Roller Derby Championships, the Firefighter World Challenge XXV and of course, Sky Zone Ultimate Trampoline Dodgeball.
“The Ocho” was the parody sports network that was covering the dodgeball tournament featured in the movie. Brooks and Cotton were its two primetime announcers that offered many memorable quotes from the table.
