In search of a bigger challenge, football superstar Neymar jumped from Barcelona to Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) in a move tagged as “the transfer of the century.”
PSG paid a staggering world-record fee of 222 million euros ($264 million) to buy out the Brazilian icon’s contract. The transfer surpassed — by more than double — the previous record fee of 105 million euros paid by Manchester United to Juventus for Paul Pogba last year.
“I have won everything a sportsman can win, ” the 25-year-old forward said. “I have experienced unforgettable moments.”
Neymar signed a five-year deal with PSG where he’s expected to earn 30 million euros ($35.6 million) net a year.
“It was one of the toughest decisions of my life, ” Neymar said. “I wanted a new challenge. I wanted something bigger. To do my best. And to do even better.”
