The victim and suspect knew each other, officers said.
MONTMORENCY COUNTY, MI — Officers are investigating the suspected killing of a 21-year-old woman found dead Wednesday in a residence on Klein Road in Rust Township.
Police responded at about 6 p.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 23, to a 911 call of a possible stabbing. Initial investigation by Michigan State Police led officers to believe the incident was a homicide, according to a news release.
A suspect, who knew the victim, was located by troopers and detectives from the Huron Undercover Narcotics Team as he was arriving at his residence at about 8: 40 p.m. Wednesday.
The man was detained and transported to the Michigan State Police Alpena Post where he was interviewed by detectives. He was later arrested and charged in connection to the woman’s death.
Investigators report they have no other suspects in the ongoing homicide investigation.
